Get that yearly skin check

We thought all our medical troubles would be behind us in the new year but at my December skin check, a biopsy showed melanoma in situ. Thankfully, it was stage 0 so the surgeon was able to remove all of it and it hadn't spread to any of my organs. It took 2 surgeries though, one in Dec and one in Jan, and a month of me being on lifting and workout restrictions.

Not how I expected the first month of the new year to go. And now I have to go in every 3 months for years to come for skin checks. I'm not looking forward to that because I don't enjoy doctors' offices, but it's necessary. Even though I use a 50 SPF sunblock, I'm a pasty, freckled Scottish, Irish, British and Scandanavian descendant who carries the red hair gene and got sunburned as a child, so I'm a prime candidate for skin cancer. But ANYONE can get melanoma.

Here's to an uneventful remainder of 2024 for us, at least medically. I urge you all to get that yearly skin check. And don't forget the sunblock!
